70 miles

Today, I biked an obscene amount, but also had the chance to check out one of the city's road-biking trails. Though, we sweated like a summer day (it's almost here!), I am thankful for the time to explore the sights and sounds of my city.

Another one bites the dust

Tonight, I finished my living room paintings that I have been working on for almost a year. Today, I feel accomplished and I'm thankful for that.

Late night snacks & journaling

Due to my cycling certification, I don't end my workouts until at least 10PM (that's four hours!) some nights. And, tonight was one of those. So, today, I'm thankful for late night snacks and journaling.

Cat litter ukuleles

Yeah, you read that right. Today, I made a ukulele from a cat litter container for practice. Next week, for our monthly maker party, I have materials for students to make their own ukuleles from cat litter, cereal boxes and more. Plus, they can use Arduinos and Makey Makeys to make their own music. Today, I'm thankful for musical inventions. What will you use to make music?

Janis Joplin

Today, I painted the third painting in my living room black & white series of my favorite female artists. And...it felt so good. Today, I'm thankful for the chance to do art as well as the great inspiration of music.

Chicken soup for the soul

Remember those books? Well, tonight I treated myself to some of mom's homemade chicken soup with egg noodles. Delicious.

Sittin' on the dock of the bay

Today was my grandpa's last day visiting so we took him to the lake (aka the Colorado River) for some country bbq. Today, I'm thankful for sitting among family with the sunshine on my back and wind on my ankles. Delightful!

Baby giggles

Tonight, I got to experience baby giggles from this curly cutie. While temperamental - just like her aunt :) - she has the best laugh. Tonight, I'm thankful for baby giggles.

Family

Today was a wonderful day filled with family and friends and I'm thankful to have a day off to enjoy them. I'm especially thankful to see this man, grandpa, who is almost 80 years old!

Grumpy

Today was just one of those days where I felt grumpy for no apparent reason. Ever have those days? Today, I returned home to find someone else having a grumpy day, which in turn, put a smile on my face.

Despite a rather boring, tiring day, I am thankful for my nice joy ride on the cruiser in honor of national bike day. I can't wait to take it out for some more joy rides!

The finished tapestry

After a couple of weeks of attention diversion (mainly my cycling training course and ukulele course), I returned to finish my March/April Doodle crate. And...it felt wonderful to finish!

And the rain clouds released...

Today, they said we'd get the rain. And, at noon, I was wondering if they were fibbing. At one, the rain clouds released and I smiled. While I hope others don't suffer from floods, I do love the rain.

Strawberry pickin'

Today, I tried my hand at strawberry pickin'. Even though the plants had been damaged some by hail, I was happy to pick a few ones! Here's to strawberry pie...

Grass cuttings

Today, I cut the grass and did some yard clean up. Though it's a chore some dread, it's a task I love doing. The thrill of starting the engine, watching the grass clippings fly in the breeze, and seeing a fresh new start puts a smile on my face every time. Today, I'm thankful for cutting grass...

Today, I had to teach two songs for cycling so I became very friendly with my spotifiy mix. Today, I'm thankful for music and the ease of Spotify!

Family coding fun

Today, I hosted a family coding night for all staff, students, and family. Though only middle school students attended, I am still thankful for the excitement they shared!

Student power

Today, students showed super powers as they led a digital citizenship chapel on positive online presences. I gave them a few guiding questions and they ran with it. In fact, some even passed out brochures to other students on how to join some teen writing movements. Today, I was thankful for student voice and power.

Doodling

Tonight, I have the beginnings of a loom. In this month's Doodle Crate, I get to construct my own loom and many, many tapestries.

Today, I am excited for doodling & looming.

Soup for me!

Today, I remembered the pumpkin soup my mom made months ago that I had "saved" in my freezer. Today, I'm thankful for soup and freezer secrets.

Pie...the pizza kind

Today, I had pizza pie...lots of it. After 40 miles of riding and another 4 hours of it slated for tomorrow, I felt thankful for pepperoni, cheese, and the works!

Teaching & listening

Today, I taught a sophomore health seminar...on digital health. Today, I'm thankful to have discussions about what teens feel is appropriate digital health. Today, I listen.

Cycling and...yoga

Today, I took a cycling and yoga class before my cycling trainer class. It had been a while since my last yoga class and...well, it showed.

Nevertheless, my body is thankful for it.

Planting...3.5 hours later

Today, I dedicated my night to planting...3.5 hours of it. Though sore, I'm thankful to have a night solely for being out in the yard, in the warm sun.

Taking a cruise

Today, I have my cruiser. I'm thankful for being able to take it out for a joy ride through a neighboring trail, stream, and park. Today, I took a cruise.

Blanket queen

Today, I have my favorite green blanket. Though, not mine, it's one I thoroughly enjoy. Tonight, I'm thankful for putting up my feet under a nice cozy blanket. It's never too warm for blankets.

Resolute-ion

Today, I started work on earning a cycling certification with the hope of teaching cycling classes in the near future. Today, I fulfilled a dream I've had for nearly ten years. And, for that, I'm thankful. Here's to resolute-ions.

A mighty fine day for a bike ride

Though cold and windy, today we had a beautiful day for a ride benefiting an awesome local school. It's a favorite each year and am thankful for the ride.

Rainy days bring smiles

Today, we had rain and cloudy skies. Despite the nice spring weather we have had recently, it's nice to spring in a cool, cloudy, rainy day before the dead of summer sets in!
