Today is my last full day in Philadelphia and is also a day I gave five presentations. So, needless to say, I am beyond exhausted. But, I wanted to see the liberty Bell. Sadly, it was closing and the line was long so this is as close as I got to it. Perhaps another time...
The crowds showed to today, so the only food I could get without a massive line was a black and white cookie, but it was delicious!
Here's hoping to real food soon!
I did it... I gave my first ever ignite talk. It was the most exhilarating and nerve wrenching presentation of my life, but it was truly igniting.
I woke up at five, ready to catch a plane to #iste2015, but the airlines has other plans. And 12 hours after my original scheduled arrival, I'm here.

It seems I'm packing and unpacking this summer. This time, I'm off to Philadelphia, but at least the next time, it's strictly for vacation. Hooray!
I have two cats, one of whom has an infatuation with peeing on my carpet. So, today, many dollars and a black light later, I am determined to claim victory over it.

This summer is the summer of traveling and I'm finally home for... Three days before my next adventure begins.
Today's moment: thankful for home
Today's moment weighs heavy on me as the nation turns focus to the Confederate flag. During my third year of teaching in rural Missouri, I assigned my students the coat of arms and I had two students put Confederate flags on them. I had told the students I would hang them, but never hung these two. When they asked why, I said it would be considered offensive to others in the class. They said it represented their freedom of speech and their pride. However, it occurred to me that they did not understand what freedom of speech meant nor did they understand the meaning of the confederate flag. See, to me, it wasn't just a symbol of race, but a symbol of a broken nation, a symbol of hate for the over 500,000 Americans that died because of that flag. See, to me, it represented not pride for one's country or state, but of fear and distress. That is not the pride I choose to share.
Today's moment: going to better define pride and freedom
Since I left Connecticut and took part on a week that included tropical storms, getting stuck in an airport, and food poisoning, I have not seen the sun. Tonight, though, the sun has finally made an appearance!
Day two of food poisoning showed signs of improvement after a nice chiller in the pool. The dog days of summer have begun but food poisoning is on the way out!
I'm wondering if it's a full moon. This week has been fill of surprise obstacles. Last night, I either got food poisoning or caught a bug. So, today. I sip 7 up in hopes of a quick recovery.
After making Scooby shoes, I decided to make minion mittens for my boyfriend's mom... Her favorite.

Since summer started, I've been traveling the country and presenting on Google daily. Today, I had the pleasure to speak for Google to Texas administrators. And, though I'm excited for more presentations, today's moment came in realizing I have a four day break!
And the bad luck continues. The eye of tropical storm Bill is headed straight for us. Today's wish... Hoping it will wait until after my presentation...
Today, last night, whatever you want to call it had to be the most exhausting day of travel I've ever had. From being stuck overnight at an airport and then a rental car facility to a hurricane, it's been an adventure, but at least there is this before!
It's been an awesome trip presenting with some of the best in Connecticut, but now it's time to leave for my next presentation destination.

Today was our end of school luncheon, a time where one of our teachers, also a comedian, gives a roast. And, well, I was given a roast, ninja style, for my "manifestos" in regards to our gradebook program, a source of angst among the teachers.

One thing I miss most during the school year is reading my "for fun" books. So, tonight, I'm gathering my summer reading list and can't wait to start it during my summer travels!
