Bright-eyed

My youngest niece turned two months today. After a rough couple of mounts of acid reflux and the works, today, she was bright-eyed and full of excitement.

My niece's third birthday is coming up and her favorite thing right now is "ookie stewie" or, to the rest of us: Scooby Doo. So, I'm making her shoes, a dress, and a purse full of crafts. Here's to #3!

Chromebooks!

As part of my next journey, I treated myself to another Chromebook because you can never have too many, right? This one is a blue Dell 11 and I can't wait to give it a home!

The streets of Laredo

I'm not a huge fan of the trip to Laredo from Austin, but today, it was covered in car- high sunflowers. So, today, the road to Laredo is a golden one!

A moment in time

I realized today that, in two weeks, I'll be leaving Round Rock ISD. It's hard to believe. I'm so excited for the change, but know I will miss my team greatly.

Blue skies

Yesterday, I was nearly flooded or of my apartment. Today, I woke up to the aftermath of destruction. However, I went home to these beautiful blue skies. It's been too long, blue.

Close call

We have had record flooding two days in a row. This time, it's only get from my door and my spare room is flooded. Today's moment: thinking about what matters in the face of losing it.

And then, there was light

After over 22 days of rain, we saw the sun. Last night, we had 12 inches of rain and the lake went up over 7 feet. We are now at 50% capacity in our lake. There is still a long way to go for our water, but thankful for this start. Here's to hoping those that reeped the floods, find drier grounds!

Floating orange

Since my mom is our of town, we decided to come over and grill some hamburgers for my dad. And, to top it off, we made Stewart's orange cream floats. Yum!

On this rainy day

I decided to take a day of rest. I don't remember the last day I did not work at least ten hours. And, it was the perfect rainy day for a hike!

My boyfriend is new to the 1980s show, Cheers, and has fallen in love with their opening credit images. So, I was able to find and print his favorite image. I love surprises!

Tonight, Aj spared me my typical boring dinner and spiced it up with homemade meatball subs. They were a welcome break from the usual.

I came back from my end of the year evaluation to find this peach on my desk. It was the prefect treat from a co-workers house. Yummmm

The Day Google Died

Something went "wonky" with our network today, preventing us from searching with Google the entire day. We will forever call this - the day Google died - because it rendered students and teachers helpless. They were forced to (gasp) "just Bing it." It brought us back to days before the Ominbox and before Google and...it was a scary world. Even, Let Me Google That For You, would not work.

Flooding

El Nino is in full force. Last month, all of the state was in a drought, some in severe drought. But, after the last month, some drought has been lifted. This morning, it rained so much that it turned my backyard into a river!

Up the hills, down the beer

Today, we rode the Real Ale Ride, which included free beer afterward at the brewery. It included some awesome waterfalls and even more impressive hills. Today's moment: satisfaction in surviving and brisket.

America's pastime

Tonight, I'm celebrating an awesome day and my grandpa being in town with a baseball game at our local stadium. So, let's play some ball!

End of an era

I feel like a weight has been lifted after making a huge decision. I have grown more and met the most inspiring people at my current job, but I felt the need to be closer to teachers and students again so... I did it. I am leaving after this year and starting a new journey at another awesome school. I will miss the awesome people here!

Glitter galore

Today, we had our first outer limits showcase, or as some call or: a maker faire. I had the honor of facilitating the LED lights, coin cell batteries, s and at supplies. Glitter. Glitter. Glitter.

The kids had a blast and left me covered on glitter. Today's moment: glitter and the joy it brings.

Raindrops keep falling on my head

May has been Austin's rainiest month in forever. In fact, in several areas, our severe drought has ended. I am a rain lover and today was one of those perfect rains. Today's moment: rainy days.

Every rose has a thorn

I got these roses with the intent to give them to my mom, but I forgot. Now, they are a reminder that everything hurtful has a beautiful side to it and vice a versa. It's a reminder to keep your chin up and find the beauty.

In a league of her own

For mother's day, we made the BBQ works for my mom and spent a day playing ball with the niece. Today's about the women in my life: mom, nieces, and my grandmas.

The great parting

The clouds finally parted, even if only for a moment. I'll take it as a sign summer is on the way and a break is in store!

The day my hair grew five times

I rarely care about my hair, but today, I was forced to care when it grew in volume five times. Today, the humidity was at an all time high. One step outside was like a trip to the rain forest.

So today, I am thankful for brushes and laughter over life's humor.

Covered in orange

I had to exam the flowers that have covered the roadways in orange. Every year, I seem to fall victim to the same flowers, but they still catch my eye.

Today's moment: taking a break to smell the flowers.

A day of rest

Perhaps it was the dust from Saturday's bike race or general exhaustion, but I felt horrid today... Bad enough to stay home and (gasp) skip my workout. Instead, I decided to top off my sleep tank and see how that worked. Only time will tell now!

Ninja chick

I had the honor of presenting more about the awesome free tools Google has to offer again today to a room of enthusiastic educators. It's wonderful to walk into a room full of people so excited to learn. Kudos to teachers!

Today's moment: overhearing another teacher day she wanted to be a ninja couch too. Haha.

Hot tub time traveler

Today marked the beginning of state testing and therefore, the mooooving of about 40 computer carts known as COWs. It was follows by another three hour trip to prepare for tomorrow's presentation. So, as I sit from my hotel room, I dream that this hot tub will bring back time!

Playing pretend

There is something to envy about the way children play and imagine. They have no limits-only those we place upon them.

Today's moment: a reminder to let my imagination be free more often.

The long lost burger

Today, we biked the Florence race for 55 miles, only to find the roads in a state similar to Beirut.

So, today, a burger and fries have never looked or tasted so delicious. Cheers to booking and burgers

Well, we tried to see the Avengers, but this is as close as we got. Sadly, the boyfriend bought tickets for the wrong theater. Today's moment: rolling with life's punches.
